WKFM 2009-2010

God can be trusted to keep His promise. Hebrews 10:23 (NLT)

Dear Parent(s),
Hello and welcome to a new year of Wesleyan Kids For Missions (WKFM) adventures. This is a monthly ministry of College Park Wesleyan Church to our children, to teach about missionaries and their job of sharing Christ's message with the world. The children learn how they can be missionaries too! I look forward to meeting each month and the time I get to enjoy with your child.

Our theme this year is Camp Promise. We will focus on salvation and growth in Christ. This growth leads to sharing Christ with those around us through our words and actions. We will "visit" Indonesia, the Czech Republic, Haiti, Africa, Papua New Guinea, and Russia. We will learn of some creative ways that Christ is being presented in these countries.

Each month we will have a new verse. If your child is able to recite the verse on the following month he/she will receive a prize from the prize box, but much more importantly, your child will be hiding God's word in his/her heart. Please take the time each month to help your child work on the verse.

I plan to let the children help in picking a project for this new year. I believe they may more fully claim the project as theirs if they are allowed to choose what we will do. An additional project you can participate in is saving Campbell's products and Box Tops for Education. More information on this is enclosed. Notice that there are a few changes. If your child's school is already saving them that is fine, but if you are not saving them we would appreciate your help. These will go to Living Hope Academy, a school in South Dakota that ministers to Native American children. The Box Tops and Campbell’s barcodes will help by providing school equipment for this school. This last year the children chose a prayer/pen pal to communicate with from our Wesleyan missionaries. Some have had returned correspondence. It is exciting to see the children talk about and pray for their missionary friends. We will continue this year by writing to a new missionary friend. Our prayer/pen pals are posted on the bulletin board in our room. Feel free to check it out when you are visiting.

We will continue to have Bible and missionary stories as well. We will also be taking an offering each month. In addition to these we will have our monthly Bible verse and I can't stress memorizing our Bible verse enough!!!! Please invest in your child's spiritual future in this way. Most importantly we will learn about salvation and how each child can be a missionary right where he/she is.

All children, age 4 through 6'th grade are welcome to attend WKFM and learn more about Jesus at Camp Promise! Our first session was in September. I apologize for the lateness of this letter. Each session is planned for the 4'th Sunday, but is subject to change.

This year I would like to try something new. I would like to try to do better at communication. If you have e-mail I would love to know your address. With this I can remind you what week we are having WKFM. Also, I can share the verse we are learning so you can help your child learn it. I can also share what we will be learning so you can discuss this with your child. My e-mail address is dakotah_girl@hotmail.com. Also, we hope to have updates on the church’s website in the near future. CPWC.org

Thanks again for this opportunity to minister to your child. May you be blessed this coming year!

In Christ,
  Naomi Troyer
